Why the Federal Gov't is dysfunctional

This is by far not the only reason but it is big part of out problems. If you listened to me before, you know that I feel only veterans, people willing to give their lives, should be allowed to vote. If you are a veterran in federal gov't, one of the first things you realize is that the gov't is run by non-veterans. You see non-veterans who are your own age in positions far ahead of you. You are not given the consideration for advancement that you feel should be yours. Why? Because while you decided to defend your country and loved ones, people who didn't want to serve came into gov't, worked on networking their career, moved ahead, and now, control your career. Very few people above GS-14 are veterans. Veterans are almost none existant at the level of Senior Executive Service. The military often asked me questions at meetings and briefings or gathered around me afterward for information. Why? Because I would wear U.S. Army or Vietnam Vet cufflinks. They would see them and knew I was someone they could talk to. The other execs were so full of themselves they never bothered to understand why this happened. What I am saying is why would a person unwilling to sacrifice, want to help you with your VA or other problems.

What I say now I say honestly and openly in retirement. After I reasoned all this out in my mind, EVERY promotion I made went to the best individual, and they were always, man or woman, a Veteran.
