Bass boat crash at LOZ

    LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. – A local fisherman says lightning is to blame for his bass boat hitting a dock, jumping a swim platform and getting wedged between dock stanchions.

    The Camdenton man, who will remain unidentified, was fishing late Saturday morning when a thunderstorm rolled in sending him racing for home. As he entered his cove, just inside the Niangua Arm at the 31MM, lightning reportedly struck near the boat stunning and blinding him and sending the 20-foot Pro-Craft crashing into a neighbor’s dock.

    The operator reportedly escaped injury, but the vessel sustained significant damage. The collision also caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to the dock.

    According to LakeTow, it took five hours to extricate the bass boat from the dock using a towboat, air bags and come-alongs. The vessel was winched from the dock, floated, towed to the Camelot Estates ramp access, and trailered from the Lake.
