Crooked boat dealers

    I thought I would share a experince from today. I have a friend that has a nice pontoon boat and always and I mean always services it and winterizes it every year like clock work. On my suggestion not recomendation I had him call a local dealer to do it. Dealer gave him a price and then turned around and it more than tripled. Wish dealer would take me off there email list cause there specials are a bunch of crap. Anyway landed at a different place after being lied to. Mechanic took some time talk to my friend and explain some things. Apparently previous dealer claimed to have been doing requested work each year to this boat. Which included changing oil. it is a 4 stroke and lower unit. Claimed to have changed plugs last year and lower unit oil. Well today the truth comes out. It still had original oil filter and plugs appeared had never been changed and the lower unit oil was badly burnt. Bottomline supposedly this boat had been winterized and serviced 3 times but appears never done. Just a warning to you guys choose your repair shop carefully. Oh and it also appeared to have original water pump
