Curious as to what your thoughts are

Am I wrong in how I feel? Here is the deal . Had a long conversation with someone last night that is in the know about local schools and potential cuts coming. NC I guess is like other states and is considering major cuts to the school systems. Anyway here is what has me bothered. I will give you 3 different things

First, we have a school here locally. It is 90+% minority. It has more violence drugs and crime then all the others schools combined. It's test scores are some of the lowest in the state. In fact this person told me it was in the top 5. For many years this school has received surplus and extra money by the millions to help improve. The facts are there that it is worse. So this lady tells me that the current proposal has this school receiving a extra 2.5 million dollars next year. % new adminstration positions. 8- new teachers and at least 10 new assitants along with additional guidance help. Over 90% of this school receives free or reduced lunch already.

Here is the part that bothers me. All the other schools in the county are getting the exact opposite. Most schools are going to loose at least a few teachers and several assitants along with guidance. All of the school will recieve less money less books etc.All of them are having the pays from and possible reduced by 10% while the above teachers at the other school are being told if they continue there education and agree to work at this school for 4 years the state will pay 100% of them to receive there masters degree. This could be as much as $20,000. The schools are also going to see cuts in athletics and after school programs.

Is this right why should this other school get all these benefits while the kids that are performing will now do with out. This has me pissed. Not just because my wife is a teacher but because I have kids in the school system
