Deep Fishing--reefs and shad schools

    At the mouth of my cove at LOZ is a reef about 150 yd. long. On the shallow side, the reef is a gradual slope from 1-20 ft. vertically over 100 ft. horizontal. The deep side is a sheer drop to 75 ft. Almost everyone fishes the shallow side and can catch a few bass. The deep side usually has shad schools at 30-45 ft. all year long. The consistent fishing ( and bigger bass) is on the deep side of the reef. Large grubs, jigging spoons, "Little George", and a 1 oz. lipless crank jigged through the shad school usually work. A great place to learn deep water fishing.

    The best spots are at the ends of the reef.
