Finding GOOD ledges to fish

I was reading some articles on ledge fishing and realized they all left out the main ingredient I look for when planning to ledge fish. My best ledges are all adjacent to feeding flats. Using a topo map is the easiest way to find these areas. It is easier to find the flats on the map and then go look for surrounding ledges.
I look for adjacent flats because they give the bass a chance to push bait shallow and makes it easier for bass to feed. Because of the flats, bass will hang on the ledges around the flats. During summer, I look for these areas in 20-40 ft. of water. The lures I use are large grubs on 1/2-3/4 oz. ball heads, 1 oz. spinnerbaits, 3/4 oz. football head jigs, jigging spoons and Little Georges.

    Ledges are best when:
    1) water is being pulled or a natural current is flowing across the ledge
    2) there is an adjacent feeding flat nearby
    3) bait are schooled and not scattered
    4) the weather is hot
    5) they are on the main channel

    Good Fishing!
