Got to vent

Man I am sick of some of the BS in our local politcs. Our school board is having a meeting tomorrow night and voting to give themselves a pay raise. As of now they get a stippen. The raise is equal to $1200 a year. They only make $2400 now. So the new pay will go from $2400 to $3600. Here is the issue. We have one of the lowest rated systems in the state. So they have done a bad job and we voted a few out and some retired. Problem was on there way out they put this raise in. Next issue is if you are a teacher and you started with the system in the last 5 years you have recieved only one raise and that was 1%. Problem there is they lost that and another 1% with the tax hikes. Our teachers have a scale and every year there pay goes up. The first five years is the most rewarding and then in levels off. For example and these may not be exactly correct but a first year teacher starts at 30k year second year it goes up and so on. After 5 years a teacher is probably in the 35k+ range. They are not, still at the same rate they started at

Next issue is with all this they have also decided they need a new administration building. So they are spending millions and millions of dollars on it. They are so smart they bought property and never bothered to test the soil and later found out it is contaminated. There goes a few more million.

As some of you know my wife is a teacher so these issues hit home but what really hits is the real issues. Most of our schools don't have enough text books or in some case have none. Most of them have not been updated in a long time. We talk about Science and math being so important. My daughter goes to science class and the idiot teacher has them do word searches the entire time.

I feel the need to go to the meeting and raise hell. Unforunatley with my wife in the system it concerns me there would be back lash. Also with my job I work with the county and state on some issues and it could hurt me in the long wrong. Just pisses me off they can be this stupid:devil::devil:
