Insurance

Well, it has started. First of all , let me say that I know I'm fortunate to have a job and company supported insurance. We had our meeting this morning to go over the changes for 2011. We went from a $20 copay, to 20% of everything. The deductible doubled and we were shown that in the coming years BMI would dictate each individual's premiums. It wasn't mentioned yet, but you could see the tone being set for HBP, Cholesterol, Diabetes and other "preventable illnesses" to factor into premiums. We already pay $50 more a month if you are a tobacco user.

For the last couple of years, the company has given a small bonus to people for getting a physical and completing an online health assessment. I'm too paranoid of big brother to do that, so the one bright spot of the morning has been me asking everyone that gave me a hard time about not participating, how they feel about filling out their own admittance of their health problems and lack of exercise, so the company can come back and jack up their premiums for it.
