Iraq

We are pulling all our troops from the country except for embassy staff by 1 Jan 12. We lost the services of over 4000+ trained troops and unbelievable amounts of money. The Iranians have major influence and the people there hate us. The country may well devolve into ineffective gov't and possible civil war with the end result being chaos. Another scenerio is worse with Iran and Iraq forming a Caliphate over the area. Our troops in Afganistan will be locked in except for air support. All the Presidents,VPs, Generals, etc. who said we had to stay and finish the job need to speak up now. The end is here and I don't know if we accomplished anything.
You've heard me rail on this subject many times and I always support the troops. Still, why did we go into Iraq; what did we gain by it? Will we have to go back again and should we? Why don't we use proxies to fight conflicts like Iran does? Why in the heck don't we waste Iran and make an example? Set them back 20 yrs. and see if the clerics stay in power.
