Kids and cancer

For those of you who know Kelly (crazy elvis) but have not been poking around on other boards, his kid has been diagnosed with ALL, one of the versions of leukemia. Drop him a note if you know him or feel led to, he could certainly use the support.

When your kid (grandkid) is diagnosed with cancer, you become a part of a family of folks you never wanted to be included in. It's a close knit family, and they all have the same common thread.. my kid has cancer.

Kelly and his family are in for a 2 year fight, then another three years of hoping the 'cure' was effective. The fear of being out of remission never goes away. It changes your outlook on life forever.

My granson went thru AML, a particularly nasty version of leukemia, diagnosed 6.5 years ago. He was 3 at the time. He is considered cured today, and this is his bone marrow transplant anniversary. We witnessed half of the kids on the bone marrow transplant ward at Duke dying during our 'tenure' there.

Drop him a note in the guestbook if you wish, he *loves* to get notes from folks. Today he's my fishing buddy, out of three grandkids. All three like sailing, and he got to do some solo sailing this year :bows:

Please keep CE in your prayers, not just now but for a long time. Send him notes of encouragement, he will be needing them for the next few years. The success rate for ALL is good, but the journey is hell. And it's long and uphill.
