Last Night

I'm sorry if I offended some last night. If you have been on the site long enough to know me, you probably realized my veterans statement was a starting point and was intended to lead into somrthing else. It didn't make it to it's intended place because someone who doesn't like me decided to muddy the water by going personal. I think anyone who says they don't respect someone before the thread is finished has their own agenda. First time I've let it bother me on this site. Last night, Piddlin brought no insight to what he believes, made no logical thought against what I said, and inflamed the whole thread. Not the first time he has done it to me. I have not seen him do it to others on the site. It is a big step to go from I don't have the same belief in something as you have, to I don't respect you as a person. That bothered me as I would not say that to another man. If it happened in person, well, you folks know me by now.

Now, where did I want the thread to wind up? I believe that people need to do something to improve the country. Military, police, firemen, teachers, or just picking up trash along side of the road. SHOW ME that you care enough to deserve a vote. The constitution says if you are a citizen over 18, you can vote. Since that time, the country has changed a lot. We are becoming a nation of takers and not givers. It is not enough to say it is Obama's fault or Bush's fault or Clinton's fault because it is OUR fault for what is ocurring. I chose to use veterans because I thought everyone could agree that they had done something to deserve a vote. To me, living in this country is a privilege, not a right. Maybe voting should be a privilege. The constitution is a working document. That means it can be changed or amended and this has happened several times. My view may not be your view, but, let's not make it personal.

I will make no excuse for fighting for the rights of veterans. I have to think on what took place here last night. I won't leave the site but will probably post less frequently. As I said in another thread, you folks that want to fish, know how to get in touch with me.
