Lower Unit/ Speedo hole Question?

    I know this is not the thread to post this but I need to find out as soon as I can for a trip hopefully wed. next week. First some history. I had a reman lower unit installed that did not have a speedo pickup hole. I have a speedo tube attached to the rear of boat now. I had a NEW lower unit installed. I just found out this unit is with a speedometer pickup hole located at the leading edge of the lower unit. IT IS NOT HOOKED UP TO THE SPEEDOMETER. The question I have is with this speedo pick-up hole not connected to the speedometer and before I take the boat to the water will the water come through this pick-up hole and enter the gear set of the lower unit? I hope to get some input concerning this. Thanks Gauys!
