Night tourney last night.. what could have been

Right before blast off at 8 some storms moved throuh never rained but wind was howling and lake was white capping bad.. which i think helped the bite.. Headed straight for one of my productive ledges for the hour of daylight we had left... This ledge is about 500 yards long but there is a sweet spot about 10 yards long that is just awesome and sure a fkin nough a boat sitting right on that spot.. So we went across to the other side of channel we have fished it before but not much. Found some irregular contours and marked bait so started fishing.. Right as it got dusk I caught 2 shorts to bad one didnt measure was the fattest 14" fish i ever saw.. We could have used him.. Next cast dragging a big brushhog I set the hook and it feels funny fish just disappeared then wham back on get him close to the boat and call for net Solid keeper #1 right at 3 lbs.. Bout 5 mins later I look up as it just getting dark partners rod is bowed over but he thinks its a dink.. I see it and it looks huge i tell him dont let it jump and i reach way out and scoop him up.. Solid 4 1/2 lb so now we got two keepers about 7 1/2 lbs one hour into a 6 hour tourney.. Man i was feeling good..The wind then stopped and was calm and muggy which i think really killed the bite After dark the ledge bite usually dies so we head to a grass flat.. catch one dink move on to the creek where i wacked em last friday night one that went 14 7/8" grrrrr then on to the marina in the creek and damn boat sitting right on my sweet spot... So we head out to another marina and my partner sticks a good one on some deep stumps with a jig.. Thing is flying everywhere just knew it was the winning fish.. Finally net him and its a stupid ass smallie:head_on_wall::head_on_wall::head_on_wall: measured 17 3/4" was about 3 1/2 to 4 lbs and had to throw him back I knew that was going to cost us.. This was about 1230 tourney ended at 2.. We fished our butt off for #3 and never got him...One 15" fish would moved us into 3rd that smallie would have moved us into 2nd:head_on_wall: Ended up with 5th and 3rd big fish not bad for just 2 fish this was out of 30 boats.. only 9 boats weighed was brutal night. Made 50 bucks a piece.. Winners had 14.88 was an unreal sack on tough dark night with no moon..2nd was little over 10
