Obama and the 2nd Amendment

Just seems to me from reading the news and the site's threads, Obama is making an end run for gun control. Hard to believe little is being said and the effort seems to be almost completely off the radar. So, I have to question if it is really occurring and if it is, how come the NRA isn't shouting it from the roof tops?
The gun lobby has some very bright people and yet they are saying nothing. I personally believe something is happening. I just don't know what that something may be. If you have more info, please post it for the rest of us.
