I have noticed in past recessions that the fishing industry seems harder hit than some others. Tackle makers, boat manufacturers and dealers, etc. I have also noticed that manufacturers are more reluctant to honor or repair products that are out of warranty; even if just days. Their margin is small during a recession and some are just hanging on. BPS, one of the giants, didn't honor a rod warranty when I took one in recently. They said the Extreme rod had been abused. Actually, it had been in a closet and this was it's first use. I contacted a friend at BPS and he said it would be replaced as it was still under warranty. He also said that if it was not under warranty, he could not have helped me. I'm not sure what Lowrance is trying to do after Linda left the company. It sure sounds like they are in trouble the way they are treating customers. Hope they get it turned around.

Abe, water leaking in has been a problem with some of their newer HDS units also.
