FDR was traveling to Casablanca in total secret, something impossible today.

A lot decided there, but primary result was FDR stating Allies would only accept unconditional surrender by Nazis. It was very controversial, many thought it to blame for the Nazis fighting to the bitter end. But the Allies were reassuring Stalin, who was not at Casablanca, that they would not seek a separate peace agreement with Hitler.

And it makes me wonder what kind of conditional surrender would've been acceptable. I can't see how anything less than total capitulation would be workable.

If you really bored on a cold Saturday in January, here's a good review of Casablanca, including how FDR traveled there , which was dangerous and difficult.
