Pickwick Fishing Trip

Was just sent an email from Lozman asking about my vacation and 3 1/2 days of fishing at Pickwick. Figured I would just make a post for all to see. Second time I have been on the lake in almost 2 years and only 3rd time I have done any fishing in that long. Had a pretty decent trip but maybe not quite as good as I have liked and surely not as good as Pickwick is capable of. Sure wish I had spent a few days on the water last week or something so that I could have showed my buddy just what the lake can do. Believe I could really get on them hard knowing what I know now after spending the past 3 1/2 days up there. Will say this, I am flat wore out from standing on that front deck, running the boat and fishing. Buddy has an AWESOME 522 Ranger with one of the 250 SHO's on it. Thing is a beast and I also got to run it all 3 1/2 days. Guess we caught some where around 120 fish why we were up there. No really big fish but caught quite a few 3 and 4 pounders. Lake is slam full of those and we caught our fair share. Most were caught out on the river ledges in water any where from 15 to 25' deep. All caught on drop shots, c-rigs, and big football jigs. Did get on a pretty good top water bite this morning in one of the coves. Caught about 15 real pretty fish on walk the dog type baits before sun came out and killed that bite. Buddy caught a solid 4 pounder that I am sure was heard all over the lake when fish hit. Sounded like somebody flushed the toilet when it hit his bait. All in all was a pretty good trip and could not have asked for more beautiful weather this time of year. Pickwick never ceases to amaze me and all though I have fished all over this country. Is still and always will be one of my favorite lakes to fish.
