Service Industry

My brother- in- law retired and wanted part time work to help provide a cushion for hard times. He got a job at a local grocer stocking product and checking out employee. He is paid $7.25/hr.. After taxes, etc., there is little left to put into an account. After working for 1040 hrs., he was given a wage increase of $.05/hr.. From now on he will get a $.05 raise every 2000 hrs. of employment. If this is common for most service employees, we are in trouble as a nation.
