I shot it for the first time today with a full military load. Before today I shot it with 110gr powder; today was with 180 gr. I don't know how the powder formulations have changed in 110 yrs but this load sounded like a cannon. Original miltary sights at 75 ft. produced a 1 in. pattern. Twenty rounds produced one hole of about 2 in.. I have fired Lee-Enfield, M1, M-14, M-16 at full military load and all had less noise and kick than the Krag. I wouldn't want to be on the other end and taking a round from this weapon. The action is excellent with some rust flaking on the out side of the barrel. It is a great shooter.

I can't imagine firing the Krag in battle all day long. At the end of the day your arm would be a piece of meat. The barrel was very hot after 4 rounds.
