Spending My Kids Inheritance

Ever since I got my new boat in July, I've been wanting to get one of those MercMonitor Smartcraft gauges, but they aren't cheap. I've looked on E-bay, but didn't really know what I was looking for. Which gauge, which harnesses etc. Last week I called Don Weed from European Marine in Greenville, SC. Don is famous on another forum as a Mercury guru. What a nice guy he is. He spent 30 minutes on the phone with me, answering my questions and explaining all the options and pricing. He didn't try to sell me anything. Just explanations. I finally decided to "bite the bullet" so I drove down to Greenville today and purchased the Level 1 unit. It's NMEA 2000 compatible, so I can network it with my GPS's. He spent an hour with me in his shop showing me how to install and hook everything up. It's mostly plug and play and the hardest part is running the cables.
I THINK I can install it myself, but I may need some help from my friends ( hey Richard !). I'll let you know how it goes.
