Guess I threw a curveball to some folks with this term. Down south in the skinny water areas it is sometimes difficult to get on plane from a dead stop. To do a Texas Slingshot, you raise your motor height, turn the wheel sharply, and stomp on the pedal. The boat comes on plane immediately as it starts to turn. Straighten the wheel as soon as she starts to come up. The prop will throw a ton of water for a second or two. Sometimes this is the only way to do it from skinny water. I guess I should have said the new boat has a hydralic jack plate. Just make sure you do not raise it so high the intakes are out of the water. The effect is like being shot from a slingshot.

I last used the slingshot a couple of years ago to drench the occupants of a cigarette boat. I was fishing a dock and the driver of the boat came up and started cussing me out. I had been fishing the dock for almost an hour and certainly had done nothing to him.
My temper is not always the best. :tooth:
