The Bane of my Existence....

If you ever think of installing a pool or buying a house with a pool....don't do it.

List of problems in the past two months:
1. Salt cell went out. $475 online
2. Filter valve housing split and they quit making my "old" style so I had to buy a whole new valve. $105
3. Leak in pool. Epoxy $10 after finally finding the leak (I think).
4. Muratic Acid $6 gal X 3 = $18 (Cleaned pool after salt cell went out and had a "minor" algae problem:doh
5. 300 lb of filter sand $45 (Per the directions from the filter manufacturer, you are suppose to scoop out the 300# of sand with a cup...guess they don't have shop vacs where the filter is manufactured).
6. Replace broken laterals in sand filter $45
7. Miscellaneous PVC fittings because the original installer did not put the first union in a pipe and had to repipe due to new valve design. $25
8. 10 ea 40lb bags of salt - $70

The only thing my wife said was that it is a good thing that the labor was "free" since I am doing it all myself....:head_on_wall:

BTW, a gunite pool gets rather hot in south Alabama this time of year when you are working in it when it's drained.

I'll be starting to fill the pool back up tonight and hopefully it will hold water this time....:doh:
