Just finished planting my heirloom tomatoes. Some of the plants originated in the 1820's. These are what I planted: Amish Paste, Cherokee Purple, Mortgage Lifter, Homely Homer, Antique Roma, Menonite Red, and Crimean Black.I used to plant the modern varieties like Better Boy, Super Steak, etc., but the heirlooms all have an unbelievable taste compared to the moderns. Also planted some Italian Griller banana peppers. About 10 in. fruits that are very sweet in salads. If you grill them they sweeten up almost like candy. With the back problem this will be all I can handle this summer.
