That's right, we are at war. Not with a country but with a culture. Muslim countries seldom declare a formal war. Presidents, legislatures, etc., really mean nothing in the middle east. It is all about the religious hierarchy and schools. Most of the "college" degrees in the middle east are religious based. As you learn more about the prophet and write about YOUR interpretation of the Koran, you advance in rank. The most powerful are the Grand Ayatollahs. They are powerful because as they have advanced, they have set up religious schools of their own to further their interpretation of the word. All religious leaders in the area are like this. Now, why is this important? Because religious leaders of even the lowest rank, if they have a following, can issue a fatwah. This is a document that formally says the issuers followers must follow it's directive. If a foreigner is to be killed, this document tells people to kill them. If it says to go to war in Allah's name, that is what happens. The formal gov't has no control over the issuance of a fatwah. Every religious leader has interpreted the Koran in his own way. There is no cohesion of control, no central authority, which directs the religious heirarchy. In almost every religious school, the children are being told we are an evil. There are so many fatwahs out there against american people and interests that we as a people are in danger. A war but not a war. Formal declaration of war vs. a declaration by the fatwahs of individual religious leaders. Yes, we are at war. As Americans we just don't realize it because it hasn't come from formal governments.
