"Weapon"

    Watching the fake gun shows on TV and reading on the www.

    Have we been conditioned by the media already? Every time I hear someone talk about a gun lately, it's called a weapon. Now I understand if you've been in the military or law enforcement, because basically it is it's only use in those areas. Anything can be a weapon, a knife, gun, bow, pencil, scissors, etc.. So why have we started labeling every gun as a weapon? When I was in the shooting sports, it was a pistol - a tool, just like a racket, bat, or glove in other sports. So in my inferior mind I've been wondering, did the media constant use of the term over the years conditioned everyone? Just like every black semi auto rifle is now an assault weapon. Have we been had?

    Again, I understand LEOs and military use of the term, but not everyone on TV promoting guns, or folks at the range
