We talked on this topic before but a little reminder is in order.

Where did the big bass go after the spawn?

Some big bass always remain shallow after the spawn but the majority go to the ledges and channel on the main lake and major creeks. The largest bass follow the deep shad schools found in mid channel. They will stay and feed there throughout the summer. As the sun lowers and the water starts to cool, large bass will return to shallower water to feed on the shad migration. A great many large bass migrate to the deep ledges around the creek mouths, particularly if there is an adjacent feeding flat. The bass will push shad into the shallowest water on the flat and feed, then return to the adjacent ledges. The bass usually can be found between 20-35 ft. and can be caught on a shakey head, worm, or my favorite, the football head jig. Most bass behavior is based upon the movement of the forage. Learn what the forage does throughout the year and finding bass is relatively easy.
