Wisconsin?

I understand how a state might want to restrict collective bargining for pay. I don't understand why it would want to restrict working conditions? If you restrict a worker's say in working conditions, they can be forced to work in dangerous or hazardous conditions that previously did not exist. Also, the Governor says that be wants his state to be the beacon for all other states in this regard. When I read the articles I don't hear about the Governor or legislature giving up anything. Should they lead by example? It seems to me that the people wanting pay restrictions and no say in working conditions are rich enough that it doesn't affect them. A lot of the people affected are not in those high paying state gov't jobs. Looking at the job descriptions and pay for those positions in Wisconsin it looks like this is being put on the backs of the poor and middle class. When do the movers and shakers vote to take something away from the rich for the benefit of the state.
I know that the states are in deep financial trouble but the potential to go back to bad working conditions? Doesn't seem fair to me.

For those too young to remember the steel mills with no ventilation and ankle deep in coke dust, I do. My father and a lot of those workers died of exotic cancers caused by the rare metals released in steel production. They fought for the right to live in a safe working environment and I'll fight to help keep that right. Take that right away from public employees and you folks in the private sector WILL be next in line. And if you think the EPA will protect you, well----
