I really miss the old days of bass fishing

There was a time 20 or more years ago, when Jan and Feb were all about anticipation of early spring fishing.

Getting the Bass Pro Shop spring sale catalog in the first week of Jan was huge. I would wear it out along with any newer issues of Bassmaster mag.

All the new fishing shows started the first week of Jan and I would not miss a one. I would get to see Bassmaster TV show with the tournaments that had just been fished the past fall. Jimmy Houston, Orlando Wilson, Bill Dance, and In Fisherman, I did not miss an episode. Had the VCR primed.

I'd spend hours going over my tackle. Cleaning reels, not because they needed it but because I was thinking fishing.

I would get out on the lake on any halfway warm Feb day, even it water temps were barely above 40* , just to tune crankbaits. I would tie up to a tree or something, and cast off the back of the boat and get them all tuned.

I really loved bass fishing. Those were the good years. But somehow along the way I lost that fire and as much as I try to get it back, its just not there.
